BIG BLUE

BIG BLUE

A Poem by Rene Velez

She needs to be saved,
she's given her all,
since my beginning
before I could crawl,

and I failed her,
the fight not hard enough,
I thought I was tough,
but I was not,

I could have planted her
seeds, tended to her needs,
but I thought others would
do the job, she was robbed,
of her bounty and beauty,

my love I denied,
as her flowers died,
flowers I never replaced,
I claimed her space
as if it were mine,
I saw her signs,

but I chose to ignore
wondering if she
would bloom for me
once more,
something I don't deserve,
I gave me word,
words she never heard,

birds now carry
excuses for me.

This is full of melancholy refrain. A pice filled with remorse and regret and guilt. A most interesting verse to make one think. Loved the closing lines!
