A RISK AT CHANCE

A RISK AT CHANCE

A Poem by Rene Velez

I know you, but I've
never seen you before,
today, I thought it
would stay, I thought
it would stay,

maybe, it was
too much to ask,
I would flip the hour glass
to live yesterday,
before words conveyed,
things people in love
should never say,

bright lights dimmed,
sunlight only peeking through
cracks of our stained glass,
silence in an unfamiliar way,

we took a risk at chance,
and created a dance
for us, a floor of amorous,
in a ball of mistrust,

you, in your blue dress,
and at your behest,
some time to assess
the love we both
possessed.

I bet you'd be a killer friend. It's painful because I bet whatever happened is something regretted. With skill like yours, you'll recover, even if I takes time.

Kind words are the least I can do. Someone like you should be treasured...

Seems we can't take back leaked words... Sometimes we can forgive but we so seldom (if ever) forget.
