PARADISE LOST

PARADISE LOST

A Poem by Rene Velez

Paradise,
in warm waters,
and waves of famous labels,
cellophane surfs,
Summers in April,
and tomorrow's with no care,

children of profane air,
and patriarchs aware,
forest's saved to fables,

adolescence left to landfills,
old ways like an anvil,
if some would prepare,
if some would only dare,

new victims of the media,
trees of memorabilia,
yet, there's nothing to share,

there is a why and where...
as separate as Voltaire.

I love the imagery. Really made me wonder what 4-5 generations later will know as "normal." Will there be no tree, no oceans, or will they find a way to save them.
