COLORING BOOKS

A Poem by Rene Velez

I hope we move into a future,
bright and vibrant, the way
children color in coloring books,

smiles filled with love and humor,
past a silence, runners,
running forward with wonderous looks,

past adults and their laws of division,
past adults and their erratic decisions,
and youth
tipping the scales of dishonesty,

a future of harmony, and
every color an equal in the book,
real change in a human economy,
no personal need overlooked,

a new generation, giving,
filling in the things that are missing,
and a planet with true adult supervision,

a future colored in unity and fruition.
