MY VIOLENT PEACE

MY VIOLENT PEACE

A Poem by Rene Velez

My senses dulled,
stifled, is my drive,
but I'm still alive,
I am still alive,

left upon the fences,
stripped of my defenses
and oxygen deprived,
but I am still alive,
I am still alive,

my time strangled
my thoughts tangled,
my mind fighting to survive,
until the day arrives,
until my day arrives,

at the mercy
of my violent peace,
until my release,
life is brief,
life can be brief,

eyes open,
I clinch my teeth,
I clinch my teeth.
