SHOULDERS

SHOULDERS

A Poem by Rene Velez

She remembers being
on my shoulders, I would
carry her everywhere, she
as light as a feather, her
hands resting on my head,

her feet tapping my chest
with every step I took,
I gave her a new view of
the world, one she wouldn't
see until the coming years,

sometimes she would fall
asleep up there, her head
resting on mine,

she's older now, smiling,
she brings it up now and
then, good memories we
never forget, when love
is immortal,

now she sees the world
on her own, and I hope
she's just as happy.
