FRONT ROW

FRONT ROW

A Poem by Rene Velez

These must be the times
I chose, I asked for, to see
a change, maybe some sign
that grows, that shows,

beyond this there is
more of which we don't know,
nothing random,
in the light before we become,
in full control,
from beginning to end,
before we blend,
before we ascend,

we transcend
fighting the design,
against the divine,
what the universe intended,

and happiness we pretended,
missing the cue, pleasing a few,
elixir of a darker brew,

but now comes the turn
from what we learned,
to watch it burn, burn aglow,
also seated front row
to humanity's show.
