SAY IT AIN'T SO...

SAY IT AIN'T SO...

A Poem by Rene Velez

They're coming out
of their holes,
with a stuck up nose,
with hate signs,
no longer color blind,

back to their old ways,
the old ways, of hating
blacks and gays,

On the streets they brag
waving the Nazi flag,
with honor and pride
in their Aryan stride,

while the rest stay silent
and watch, another blotch
on the history page with
the same rage working
backstage,

with smirks at diversity,
in their national absurdity,
a majority, the new minority,
angry and afraid,

say it ain't so, it's the
same old show, still dark
and wicked and children
permitted, color restricted,
and uninhibited, wearing
a halo while the torches
glow.
