AMNESTY

AMNESTY

A Poem by Rene Velez

I welcome the night,
fingers lingering in
purple, stars in their circles
giving off a final light.

time in softer hours,
the day losing amnesty,
under a canopy of dreams,
hope like meteor showers,

twilight's silent scream,
Luna in her mighty tower,
beautiful and verbal,

I surrender in her bliss,
I cannot resist her slow
movement as I watch
her pass,
eyes in the red...
fingers rolling grass.

I like the thought that the night is just totally a different beast. We do things during the night that aren't even tangible thoughts during the day and look back on them like they are a dream. It is the halfway point between waking thought and lucid dreams. This had a great tone and roll (no pun intended). Loved it!!
