COLD SHOULDERA Poem by Rene Velez
Palm leaves limp,
water above the knee most cannot flee the catastrophy, with no food or shelter hands reaching in the dark, a President without a heart, and an anger left to swelter, and many in need, one too many pleas for assistance, no help before business, the American way, betraying the needs of a people, and a feeble attempt at relief, a devastation that's real, if only they could feel what its like to live there for a day. © 2017 Rene Velez |
