LUNA

LUNA

A Poem by Rene Velez

We drank from the
same bottle and
she didn't mind.
Just a few hours,
with her free spirit
and eyes that pierced
the fabric of time.

Her laugh echoed
through the cosmos,
sweet breath, so close.

Old wounds now
open, bleeding joy,
she wrapped me
in her blanket of stars,
safe and secure.

Secrets I promised
to keep. She left
abruptly before the
arrival of the one,
she promised to meet.
