LONELY NIGHTS IN JUNE

LONELY NIGHTS IN JUNE

A Poem by Rene Velez

She shook her hands
defiant against the night,
on her roof top vigil,

she sat in dismissal
upon the Gods of love,
mislead by her dreams
of what love should be,

lapsed in visual whims,
validating love with material
things, her hearts strings
not in tune, her vanity
immune to healing,

time stealing her days,
revolutions in an endless
maze, lonely nights in June,
offering her tears
to a silent moon,
