WANDERING AIMLESSLY

WANDERING AIMLESSLY

A Poem by Rene Velez

I have no idea what it is to be a writer.
I just have something to say.
I don't know how to be a poet.
My thoughts are just part of my day.

I know I was given the gift to breathe,
and with my gift. I can see
small connections in the universe.
In the grand scheme,
I'm bigger than some things. And
some things are bigger than me.

In my space. I set the stones in place
with every word I choose,
with every word I use.

There is no magic to me.
I am like you, wandering aimlessly,
hoping to give some meaning until
the day death is due.

And if I'm lucky, hopefully,
someone will remember me.
Or be inspired if my words
someday, may ring true.
