STARING AT THE WORLDA Poem by Rene Velez
You have the softest skin
but your nerves unhinged, sitting at the edge of your bed, playing with your curls, staring at the world, and I could not see beyond your walls, the many falls I had taken listening for your call, always behind, never catching your light, I would fight the world for your eyes to recognize me, though it would not to be. I had lost me with every rebuttal, a blindfold while unraveling, two souls traveling, now on different paths... alone...haphazardly. © 2017 Rene Velez |
