SEMI SMILE

SEMI SMILE

A Poem by Rene Velez

So young and small,
she gave me eyes
of surprise, like
she's never seen
someone like me before,

timid she was with
a semi-smile, in
her playful style
looking at her origin,
seeking reassurance,
but only receiving a look
of indifference,

seeds
of a business instilled,
until the ideology fulfilled,
though it was good to see
hope in its infancy,
seconds I will take,

and so I smiled back
in a friendly act for
her kindness to continue,
she had a face in her leap of faith,
only love should rescue.

The youngers look to the elders. And it's with bright eyes I see. Nice work.
