MISTAKEN

MISTAKEN

A Poem by Rene Velez

I would extend
a kindness to
see a smile,
keep company,
maybe chat a while,

A gentleman way
an honorable valet,
ethics for the day,
I would ask if I may,

for spirits in equity,
a touch of empathy,
can go a long way,
but...

to think an
advancement was
on display, means
an honest intent was
taken the wrong way.
