THE GREAT DIVIDE

THE GREAT DIVIDE

A Poem by Rene Velez

Damn,
there is so much divide,
the ugly soul of racism
is still alive, I refuse to
believe people are still
motivated by hate

where we consciously
try not to relate to
the other side, but we
should not choose sides,
we are on the same side
through genetic traits,
we are the human race,

woman and man,
blessed with fruitful lands
and bountiful seas, it is
we, to live and let be,

under the moon and sun
we are all one, even if they
would have you believe
differently,

these are the ones who
cannot love, who push
and shove to see blood
through tyranny.
