SHALLOW ROOTS

SHALLOW ROOTS

A Poem by Rene Velez

Empty words
in a room full
of empty people,
the volume of
promises unfulfilled.

Not in the will,
even the same
blood, happens in
the dying of love.

Snow shaken
from its pseudo tree,
to make pristine
an image of debris,

no true hold through
shallow roots, each one
baring a different fruit.
