RAREST OF GEMS

RAREST OF GEMS

A Poem by Rene Velez

And that's the thing,
she found me funny.
I could always make
her laugh. She enjoyed
my strange ways, my
twisted sense of humor.

I love her soft, small hands.
And her happy dance, the one
she saves for special occasions.

Never an angry bone
in her body, she smiles longer
than the sun shines.

They say diamonds and rubies
are the rarest of gems,
but I would beg to differ.
