NEW SELF

NEW SELF

A Poem by Rene Velez

It's not me anymore,
I've moved on, on
to greener pastures,
the trees have swayed
waving me in,
the wind calling
as a sweet whisper,
humming like honey bee's
by pollinated flower,
my eyes have shifted
from skyscrapers to
dandelions standing tall,
engaged in midday fireworks,
Eagles in aerial acrobatics
airliners could never accomplish,
leave me in the leisure of
my lawn, as plush as any
carpet in the holiest temples,
here I have been reborn
into my new self.

You have some wonderful lines here!
"dandelions standing tall,
engaged in midday fireworks,"
"Eagles in aerial acrobatics
airliners could never accomplish, "
"my lawn, as plush as any
carpet in the holiest temples, "

all of these are unique and the sound and feel of them are delightful...it's that "aha" in them
I have my forest, and the noisy frogs, and the mockingbirds...it is a temple - you nailed it there. A place of sanctuary from the city I escaped from. I relate to this, it is almost as if we are different people entirely we we can stop and become "grounded". Nice!
