THE KITCHEN

THE KITCHEN

A Poem by Rene Velez

The toast is cold
but I didn't care
for it when it was warm,
the sun isn't out today, and
I can see geese picking
through the front lawn from
my window, given enough time
I'm sure people could
possibly solve most of the
problems that plague this world,
but I'll be long gone before
that happens, I try and do
what I can today, and by the
cries coming from the kitchen
I can tell my dog needs me.

I love the idea of geese picking through your front lawn! To me, this is a snippet of a morning, with a bit of reverie and then the day begins with demands. Indeed, if people would, or could, slow down a bit the world might be a more peaceful place...dogs, and geese, and cool, cloudy days. Now, perhaps, I am dreaming.
I enjoy your poems.

come out in such a way
