FREE FINGERS AROUND THE REINS OF HOPE...

FREE FINGERS AROUND THE REINS OF HOPE...

A Poem by Rene Velez

They are knocking
upon the gate,
demanding entry,
the dreamers
bringing in the dawn,
colors of creativity,
bounty for the poor,
a tapestry of stars
brilliant and innate,
awake in the slumber
of humanity, topple
the walls of division,
head first into the fray,
shared words to
sound like trumpets,
a beacon into the grey,
open the gates and
watch the flowers grow,
wrap free fingers
around
the reins of hope
and never let go.

Really like this. Wonderful title and the ending - what an image! Hope...so easy to lose such a powerful thing. I love your use of nature in your work - I have a particular passion for trees, and animals, and sky myself. It grounds me, and I find often restores my faith in life, people, love, and myself.

Glad you enjoy them, though I can be dark at times.
