DEEPEST BLACKNESS

DEEPEST BLACKNESS

A Poem by Rene Velez

Separate me,
every atom of my being,
place me among the
lights and sounds
I do not see,
I do not hear.

Move me where
Snow peaks reach
mother and universe,
allow me to race
against comets and
lay upon Saturn's rings,

pass with me through
dying stars, in the
deepest blackness,
into answers
and all their glory,

leaps and bounds,
until we can sit upon
celestial steps.
