ANTIBODY

ANTIBODY

A Poem by Rene Velez

I'm not trying to fight you
but you crept in my body,
and took control of my brain,
delaying the pain

The other voices say
I need you, with their
PhD's and college degrees

but you are foreign to me,
and though
I may be damaged
I just want to be free
of you, I have no need of you

but there is nothing I can do
trapped in this dimension
and so, I lobby.
I am the antibody
of this flesh I embody.

I really like this. It reads like a statement of intent that you want no part of, that I thought at first read was an illness like flu, but reading it again it could be a thought or a person, or unwanted thoughts of a person. Superbly done. Thank you for sharing this.
