FLAME ATOP A CANDLE

They were the flame
atop a candle, a vigil
of well wishes, abundant
in their cause to bring
inner strength when needed

They stretched beyond
the landscape of prayer,
to the deepest parts of
personal despair, their
strength, a light of warmth

the lighthouse calling
a lost ship home, guided
safely from rough seas,
to the normalcy they
once knew.
