SLIGHTEST FLAWS

SLIGHTEST FLAWS

SLIGHTEST FLAWS
A Poem by Rene Velez

I have seen a sun set without applause.
I sipped melted ice cream through a straw.
I have loved women with the slightest flaws.

A few days ago I ate a peach,
and cut my foot upon a beach.
With a camera I captured a smile.
I once ran for more than three miles.

Forty five times I made a wish
had as a dish but never caught a fish.

As a child I thought I'd grow to be a spy
staring danger right in the eye,
but as an adult I can't climb a tree.
But now i see it's always been
the small insignificant things
that validate me.
