SPECTATORS

SPECTATORS

A Poem by Rene Velez

They wanted to
peel skin but
dark skin doesn't
peel in the Sun,
words hang
like paper clips,
by the edge of
the lips

leave the
broken bones
no matter how
high the fall, no
matter how hard
the blow or what

they may imply,
they only sit on
the sidelines
watching
the world go by.
