OBSIDIAN PEARLS

OBSIDIAN PEARLS

A Poem by Rene Velez

We are the star children
obsidian pearls,
flawed and coarse,
hoarse, calling forth
the universe

Disperse the myths
we stand like silent monoliths
of a golden era, we are basic,
fed of bread and fish

Chain links of beaded galaxies
beyond the threshold, home,
we float like dust in a sunlit windows

In the dark silence
we sleep deep within
the quasars of new life.
