PIER FRIES

PIER FRIES

A Poem by Rene Velez

Parachutes they fall
in a sky dabbed in water color,
stars in her hair,
shimmering
like salt water taffy,

in time she walks
by the pier,
sharing pier fries
with an oil painted smile,

lady bugs dance
and elephants float
when she plays,

hiding Atlantis
in her eyes
a rubber ring in hand,
a prized teddy bear
and stuffed giraffe,

while evening clouds
make cotton candy.

The amazing description took me to many special places. I like the way you create visions of so many things making each scene come alive. Always a pleasure to read your outstanding poetry.
