RENEWING OLD RESOLUTIONS

RENEWING OLD RESOLUTIONS

A Poem by Rene Velez

Another year gone by,
still, the old neighborhood
looks the same, the heart beat
of the city booms celebration
Through apartment windows
along cheers and libations

Another year gone by
and some of us have changed
while some of us look the same
maybe with a bit more worry
around the eyes,
a fuller face and or a slower gait

Another year gone by
and still I walk with hope
with little faith in humanity,
with children healthy and happy
enjoying life in it's totality

Another year gone by
and we will see it till the end
renewing old resolutions
with champagne toasts
of good will with family and friends.
