RUBBLE OF OUR COMFORT ZONE

RUBBLE OF OUR COMFORT ZONE

A Poem by Rene Velez

We travel in small circles
love in short supply
between coffee and angry faces

lets us skip the politeness
it is only air
we constantly brush
upon the white lie of words

happy hour drinks numb
the pain beneath the skin
treading in the wind
waiting to be saved

show us the place
where we sit in the rubble
of our comfort zone
defensive and alone

where lifeguards
without limbs
are at the ready.

Beautifully titled, delicate content, expressed in intense detail, vivid and passionate writing.

The title has a very pulling ring to it. The rhythm moves it well, the content is original, I like the ideas presented

This is exquisitely done. I love it. Your metaphorical references are superb

glad I stopped by. Fourth stanza is killer. In jazz, the spaces between the notes are just as important, this write fearlessly exposes those ethereal spaces. Dug it Rene.
