WHITE FLAGS

WHITE FLAGS

A Poem by Rene Velez

Raise the white flag
and in it no shame,
only a change,
I cannot quell
the Singular,

toenail to hair
we live...
to a world unfair
I breathe air
and still I dare,

if not to gain,
I have mastered the strain,
beauty in pain,
I know thy name,

and I will care
far above the mountain tops
to the smallest grain
when I refrain
to dust I'll remain.

I received a read request from Anne Timmins, thank her for the review. This is a very visual, deep, and moving poem, with a lot of heart in it.
