![]() GARDEN VIEWA Poem by Rene VelezI was part of the garden view like the stone sculptures buried under vegetation and foliage, wild and unattended though its beauty once seen pristine and manicured it was the center of our weathered brick Bronx tenement building a once cared for and fenced in garden, flowers loved and touched by neighbors and envied by visitors a tear drop of mother nature contained like those of financial circumstance behind walls of brick and mortar poverty the strangled hold of happy homes trickled poison into the garden soil, slowly killing the gardens beauty less to care, flowers bare, choked by urine and debris until the garden was just a small plot of soil, unworked like the cotton plantations of long ago. © 2014 Rene VelezReviews
