Dear Mister Bootblack, in white-collar

Bootjack, I won’t be any longer

 

Eager to brush up my white matter

I’ve made up my mind to surrender

 

I’ve chalked my black marks, on all whiteboards

In seven bright chromatic colours

 

To hold another hue on matters

Not a red rag, only red letters

 

I have given myself the red card

Pink panther got it down to fine art

 

Pinkies up, for rosy cheeks by jowls

In brides’ worn sunny orange blossoms

 

To arrange new ranges of values

Yellow line on my yellow bile blues

The yellow card, I’ve also bowed to

 

To fulfil the rainbow alliance

Verdant fingers of self-reliance

 

I have given myself the green light

To a green, true-blue-eyed time of life

 

Blue funk fools, blue-pencilled in my book

For a mauve-indigo childrenhood

 

Violet purple prose on purpose

I have chosen to be a white hope

White-hot spectrum of all seven hues
