The Gift

The Gift

A Poem by Zeitgeist Manifesto

Today....

I walked past
a man standing
on the curb
with two buckets

Full
of flowers

And for reasons
unknown to myself

I purchased...

The bouquet ...

I never had
the courage
to give
you

Whilst deciding
to offer
it as a gift
to the next

Woman
to catch ...

My
Admiring
eye

And as
her smile
released
the light
of the heavens

I refused
her gratitude
and thanked
her instead

(For a little closure)

I liked the conciseness of this one. I liked the clarity of its language. Mostly, though, I liked reading an end of relationship poem on this site that did not adhere to the themes of either "Can't live without you, baby," or "You tore out my heart and stomped that sucker flat."

I'm getting quite a few things from this. On one hand it's melancholic in its presentation, which I will admit I have a penchant for appreciating, but on the other hand it's a really fun idea. I really liked the ending here. A pleasant conclusion.

I honestly do not know what to make of this poem. Its simple yet full of complex emotions. What actually intrested me more than the over all context of the poem was the way it appeared, with some stanza's having more lines or words then the others... I like the poem but for some reason the way it way laid out had more of an impact for when I read it out loud. Good job

An amazing poem, about fear, love, and courage wich is there, and overwon all.
I love the structure and the short sentences, as it flows so well together. Nice work ZM :)

When one door closes, another one opens...or something like that. Truly enjoyed this!

A wonderful write. It had that bitter sweet feeling to it all. It was truly a great write. The last stanza made me smile like crazy. The small amount of words per line just made each word seem so much more special. Great job :D

Oh, I like a little twist ending.... This is great...meaningful.
How we move through life from the past to the present, still holding the past, until we let it go in the strangest ways. Very well done.
