Catalyst For Change

Catalyst For Change

A Poem by Aerra
"

When I was first accepted into a band to be a singer this was the first song I'd written for one of our tracks. It was in defense for the Muslim community during the terror of ISIS.

"
Catalyst For Change
Verse I:
Martyred for your own beliefs!
Keep them deep inside the confines of everything that has ever factored in the creation of you and me.
Keep your eyes down to the ground,
and make sure not to make the slightest sound,
remember the only way to explore your faith is tot bite your tongue and pray.
Faith has never seemed so close...
(and yet so far away)

Chorus:
This is not a reflection of who we are!
        (OF WHO WE ARE)
This is not what we believe!
(THIS IS NOT WHAT WE BELIEVE)
Overpowering with a vision to prove,
we kneel down forced to hear their truths.
        (HEAR THEIR TRUTHS)

This is not a reflection of we are!
This is not what we believe!
(THIS IS NOT WHAT WE BELIEVE)
In this fear we will never come apart,
our ideals, our sanctuary.
In this fear we have found our strength.

Verse II:
This final and bright January day,
our hero hangs his head high from shame.
If to love a man this price he pays,
he will gladly die this way.
Is this really the world we live in today?
Your trial will  be our catalyst for change.
 (CATALYST FOR CHANGE)

-Chorus-

Breakdown:
Not one single soul left on this earth should ever have to be so terrified that they can't look within themselves for serenity.
To be so frightful of the ever expanding hole in their chests,
constantly foreshadowing  their fate if they dare speak a word.
These extremists aren't just turning innocent lives into statistics,
they're forcing people to reject the ideals that made them whole!
They're mutilating them from the inside out ,
making sure they've killed them before they take their lives,
and even though the fear of dying twice is emphasized on every unseen corner and lonely alleyway.
These pure souls ignite with a fire that will forever speak volumes of keeping faith in your beliefs, and yourself!

-Chorus-

I don't really have this up here to be a serious piece for writing, but I did enjoy my time while I'd written it.

A very well written song. It is indeed sad that a peaceful religion has been hijacked by violent, non tolerant bigots who have given this religion and its adherents a bad name
