A Poem by Reika
"

I've been lost lately.

"

Here we are...

Alsleep in the blue colour of the mountains.

At that moment, I had believed you were lost.

The bees left the rosemary and breathed the last of their unspoken language among the flowers.

I had wondered how it could have possibly been so,

and whether or not the flowers had touched your memory by chance,

before you floated in the wind current;

unconcerned of all that was around you,

and unconcerned about your transcendant arrival or departure.

By now the eggshell of darkness

engulfed my mind

as the stars gathered in the sky above me,

unaware of this fallen state I had become.

Hurrying along, I thought to myself,

How does the rain cool itself in the ocean?

I then bore the memory of you for the first time in a while.

I cried,

How was this the beginning of you and I?

and you replied,

The lightning does not strike...

But with nothing,

a nothing heaven is embraced.

The blink of an eye in the instant

the existance of a loved one is passing.

The shadow-covered, maple boat,

lowers into the salty blue.

Could it be that the one in question,

can no longer hear my comfort?

or see the bleached-white mountain top?

Why not share life's pleasures in a paper cup

and slice through thick glass like soft flesh?

Close your eyes and dream serene pools

and keep me in your memories,

for my colours are not scenic in any sense of the word

and with my senses I am a hidden verse

beneath the flower petal

you once placed upon my crown.

The sun cannot resist my sting

and the stars do not light my path.

Like a rabbit, I am lost

and like an antelope, I am trampled upon.

But don't remember me with all my baggage...

Because I will leave my baggage,

and soon be gone.

Author's Note

Reika
Wrote this on the bus back home. I've been finding out some horrible news lately, and it keeps getting worse for some reason. I keep wondering what I could have done wrong to deserve this! I hope you enjoyed reading it.

Beautiful. Unbelievably beautiful. This is honestly one of the best things I've read on here in quite a while. Usually, when the words are coming out with such perfection, the poem only lasts a stanza or two or three. But this just keeps going and going, and the eloquence of the words and their meaning never diminishes at all. Amazing work. I have nothing bad to say about this.
