To String A Heartbeat

To String A Heartbeat

A Poem by Reika

Your heartbeat is that of a violin.

Whether it is playing a gentle tune,

or letting out a painful cry,

even when the song is sad,

the song is still as beautiful as always.

All the other instruments in the world

may drown you out,

but here in our silent room,

your sound resonates

and I hear your gentle song.

It echoes on forever,

and lingers long after its instrument has gone.

One lingering note from this melody

can bring me to my knees every single time, without fail.

You turn to me and I hear the violin play.

Never in my life have I heard such a lovely song.

My heart is pierced so fiercely,

as if a thousand waves are crashing through.

Let the cry of my own heart's voice,

accompany you in song.

As I feel so undeserving of such a duet,

I rejoice for it has brought me to you

and I am with you now.

I will hear this music,

as I will love you.

After this lifetime ends,

your heart will play this lovely hymn,

on your little

violin.
