The Standing Tree

The Standing Tree

A Poem by Reika
"

I fill my cup. I fall asleep. I wake up. From my dream. And as my awareness starts to grow. From my mind do these words flow.

"

Letters on the moon

Send them to me soon

Tell me my purpose

That I'm not worthless

Please just kiss

and say it will be alright,

And I will wish for this

at the end of the night,

after all of those dreams

have gone away,

tell me it's okay

That it's all okay.

I turn to see

what you've left me,

a blood-stained battlefield

and a sky, burning and hazy

a single tree blowing

in the wind

my heart is showing

and I just can't win

the last one standing

feel yourself around the ring

one foot, then the next

just barely

it is all that is left

of me

the planted seed

is dead now

you're walking over to me now

you bring your hand near

caressing my cheek,

whisper in my ear

and sing me to sleep.

As you turn around

and take a step forward

I leave my poor heart

as it tumbles toward

the ground.

I come around

in your arms,

your eyes are warm

like glass

vast

night

and clear sky,

I try

and I try

to ask you why

when your fingers meet my mouth

and silence

is all that comes out

I'm screaming now

with nothing left to say

I'm left so unsure;

Left with nothing but those few words

one only hears

truly sincere

maybe once in their lifetime

and this is the kind atonement

a kind of bliss

and the kind of moment

I want to make this.

Author's Note

Reika
I made myself some tea, I fell asleep and had a dream. I woke up from it, and started writing about what I was dreaming about. It was weird and cool and just...weird and yeah. This was all just now (or around the "now" kind of time, you know).

My heart sings a gentle song and whispers softly in your ear and your ear alone I'm not the best writer in the world. Hell, I'm not even close to decent. But I love writing, none the less. W.. more..
