Winter Break

Winter Break

A Poem by Arron Steep (AKA Reid A. Peterson)
"

WINTER BREAK first appeared in "Amaranthine with Other Short Stories and Poems" (2023).

"

Once yonder snowy

wasteland thawed

beneath it lay most

verdant scene

Springtime promise

midst the sod

forthcoming bud

defies the fiend

The deep blue of

a darkened sky

held the eve in

bold solemnity

The burning orange

glow of the lights

on empty streets

welcome me home

Midnight air is

cold to breath

memories distant

my fingers freeze

Resonance of

hollow passions

delay my wanted

dreams
