"Love at sea shore"

"Love at sea shore"

A Story by Rehan writes

"his love for her is as pure and deep like the clear water of ocean"

They were sitting on the opposit sides of bonfire. He can see her face glowing in the light of burning wood. He find her even more beautiful than she looks in the day. Their eyes met once in a while and she smiles. He tempted again to go near her and tell her how he feel, that he want to spend all his life watching her, sitting near this fire, smiling. But somehow he resist this desire.
*****
"why are you always silent ?"
She had asked him a day before, while they were sitting at the shore together. Our friends were playing ball while he was drawing on sand.she came there, looking for her friends and stood near him. He looked up for once and resumed drawing.
"what are you doing?" She asked.
He pointed towards the figure and said, "i'm making a mermaid"
"A what?" He laughed in his head, more at her confused look than the question she had just asked.
"A mermaid. Mermaids live in water and grant wishes. see, they look like this", he stopped drawing for a while and showed it to her.
She was quite convinced. She look around for once and then sat beside me. he looked in those eyes and shifted immediately. There was something in her eyes he was afraid of falling for. He don't know what it was." How would i know? I don't like talking much, i guess" he said, still looking at the ground. He carved out the tail of mermaid very carefully. She shifted a little so as to stop wind. From defacing my creation. She then waited for him to finish it.
"Do you hate people?". She asked.
"or you are afraid of them?" Why was she asking such question? He thought.
"Have I offended you in some way?"
He said, still unable to look her in eyes he saw a pimple on her left cheek, and a golden earring kissing her earlobe.
"No", she laughed "why do you think so?"
"Because..." He was interrupted by one of her friend who waved and shouted at a distance, she smiled at her friend and stood up.
"I have to go when you have finished drawing your mermaid, ask her a wish. Tell her to make you smile more often"
That night, he silently walked out of the camp so as not to disturb anyone. The shore was bathed in the crisp moonlight he was thinking about what she said to him in the day. "Did i really look like I hated people? Would she be thinking the same about me? But why would she tell it to me, If she also thought about me the same way everyone does. For people, i don't exist to me, usually they don't" he started moving sand moving sand with his toe, he draw two eyes, they looked familiar to him. He sat down and looked at those eyes again. Yes, they were same as hers, what was so special in them that didn't let me look at her? Was it an uncertain fondness , or a tinge of old acquantance? He spent quite a time, talking softly to those eyes when he finally stood up, he remember smiling at them.
*****
The bonfire is still young and people are dancing around it. he look around for her she is not there anymore he wait for sometime, but she doesn't return. He move away from the bonfire, searching for her. He see a shadow at some distance. It must be her, he thought he moved toward her. His heart throbs.
"the wind, it carried away her" she says pointing at the place he had drawn the mermaid. He gather courage and look in her eyes. The eyes that seem to be calling him since the very moment he, saw them. They are like an ocean, deep and rich. No fear can stop him from wanting to drown in them
" I found my mermaid " he smile and loose himself in her eyes."
