Torture

Torture

A Poem by Reform69
"

It is said the anticipation is worse than the pain itself.

"

I open my eyes

Spotlight blinds me

Encompassing me

Hands behind my back

I am bound in the ring of light

Sweating in anticipation

I’m shaking in fear

A silhouette appears next to me

With dagger like diction

Bleeding me dry

Of any thought but the present

Whispers “Are you ready”

I take a deep breath

Knowing the pain that will ensue

A rattling of chains to my left

My heart is racing

Pounding in my chest

The curtain spreads its wings

All fear dissipates

Bursting from my cage

I approach the crowd and smile

Ready to give my performance

Couldn't tear my eyes from racing over the words. This reminds me of when I gave my first solo performance in choir, its torture, but kind of like a good torture. If that makes sense ;) I couldn't definitely relate to this.
