The Lavender Rose

The Lavender Rose

A Poem by WindSong

The Lavender Rose

You see it alone

In a vase,

On someone's

Old wooden table:

You think it was given

To someone with love,

Yet!

There is a dewdrop

Upon one of its petals,

A folded memoir

By its side:

You wonder about

Its meaning,

Still

You do not know

The reason

Why

Someone left,

The lavender rose

To die!

This tugs at the heart in a rather painful manner. I can't help but wonder about the mystery of the lavender rose. Very nicely done.

I'm pleased I found this, quite an emotional write, many means seem to spring from the words, we each I suppose have a different view. Very creative.

I really like your voice in the poems - the bittersweet touch - though soft and pleasant to read - the idea of something sitting their pretty - loved the idea of the dewdrop being a memoir by its side (brilliant) - then the realisation - picked for whatever reason it sits alone to die - nice!

thought provoking, beautifully worded, soft pictures come to mind.

I love your set-up in this. It makes the reader wonder about the reason for the rose. I like poems like that. Good job :D

Love is often showed by something so beautiful that dies..,
Kind of contradiction it seems.

Beaufiul words of wonder....

Aaaw, you bring such sadness with your words, I never thought I'd feel emotional about a picked flower dying - now I feel like campaigning to stop all flower-picking! - I really enjoyed this, it can be read on many levels. Annie :)
