A Lover's Lament

A Lover's Lament

A Poem by WindSong

A Lover's Lament

The summer breathes in me

The enchantment of love,

A kiss, an embrace

Oh how the season lingers

Passionately with the willows,

Where lovers love to love

In nature's subtle breezes

Oh what would a meadow be

Without the weeping willow trees

Or songbirds

As they graciously sing

For lovers eternally

A lady in blue gathers a rose

From Monet's garden,

Clutches it to her bosom,

Then quietly weeps

As she passes by

I feel the gentleness of early autumn,

As it breathes with the willows

Upon summer's path

Where a lover's lament

Is emphatically etched

By a rose adrift with falling leaves

Blowing softly in the wind

Such a beautiful, bittersweet muic flows through your words... scenes of summer melting into autumn's refrain... This is so alive with emotive imagery.

I loved the "love" in this poem, Windsong...
you make it sound so easy and clear...and beautiful
which it is of course..
with the heartfelt images and subtle metaphors, this write ebbed and flowed amorously from word to word, line to line, passage to passage. Very thoughtful and classically soft throughout.
You picked just the right words to convey a lover's "love"...
You may not have noticed, Windsong, but each stanza could stand by itself in effectiveness, wholeness and wisdom....combined, it makes for an outstandingly, warm and passionate read.
I so enjoyed reading and saved to my library
