A Lover's LamentA Poem by WindSongA Lover's Lament
The summer breathes in me The enchantment of love, A kiss, an embrace Oh how the season lingers Passionately with the willows, Where lovers love to love In nature's subtle breezes
Oh what would a meadow be Without the weeping willow trees Or songbirds As they graciously sing For lovers eternally
A lady in blue gathers a rose From Monet's garden, Clutches it to her bosom, Then quietly weeps As she passes by
I feel the gentleness of early autumn, As it breathes with the willows Upon summer's path Where a lover's lament Is emphatically etched By a rose adrift with falling leaves Blowing softly in the wind
