My Sleeping Beauty

My Sleeping Beauty

A Poem by Jonathan Daniel Reese

Amidst all the anger
Within these bonds of pain
My sleeping beauty slumbers
To sounds of pouring rain

While my beauty sleeps
She escapes the world's oppression
As rest begins to seep
She's free from all depression

Let my beauty rest
Let her dreams be sweet
Let her wander rivers
Cool waters at her feet

May she climb the tallest mountains
And breathe the freshest air
Explore the edge of space
Everything from here to there

And when the time of rest
Has come to an end
May she wake refreshed
Until she sleeps again
