Mother

Mother

A Poem by Jonathan Daniel Reese

You said I am your sunshine,

I tell you, you are mine.

Inspiration comes in many forms,

from you this is what I find:

You're love is strong and true

Yet your heart it breaks in two

So full of guilt,

the life you built

has taken us from you.

I know this from times gone past

that you did your best I know.

When beaten down you got back up

What courage you did show.

You said I am your sunshine,

I tell you, you are mine.

I see your eyes, so full of tears

please keep your head held high
