Starstruck Lullaby

Starstruck Lullaby

A Poem by Jonathan Daniel Reese

I crashed upon a night lit sky

I crawled on hands and knees

To catch a clearer, better glimpse

of this girl from distant memories

My heart could tremble for the sound

of a voice so sweet and calm

The innocents I hear within

a simple touch of palm

Take my hand and hold it tight

as we watch the night lit sky

I sing a song to the heavens

A starstruck lullaby

As stars can fall and night can fade

You know I'll feel the same

Your beauty holds it resonates

my lips doth speak

no words to show complaint

You posses a wisdom to see into my soul

This shell you see in front of you

You fill and make it whole

And like the stars don't stand alone

but shine still independent

This moon is pale compared to you

so bleak and unconcerning

Compared to it your gentleness

leaves me ever burning

I sing again these words of musing

inspired by your touch

Though at times your quite confusing

still i want your love

A simple song this lullaby

yet still i can't describe

One thing i know you've got it all

more I wish to give

As we share those secret thoughts

I know what life to live

Betterment this sacrament

give me hope to try

So give it all i sing this song

this Starstruck lullaby

You walk your talk untethered

just like this chaotic land

this universe that's so perverse

yet still I know you can

what bounds you stride

will we collide

and fall into a bliss

your times of need to me are this

a blessing in disguise

you show whats true

whats really you

no mask to hide behind

Its complex simplicities

that make me wonder why

So I'm vexed this mystery

A starstruck lullaby
