Princess' Don't Need Castles

Princess' Don't Need Castles

A Poem by Jonathan Daniel Reese

Princess I've got a Castle for which to call your home

A sturdy place that's full of grace what joys I hope you know

My kingdom's stretched beyond the land beyond what eyes conceive

Princess come join me now I'll be your man yes I will be your king

Princess' don't need Castles, a lie to hide behind

can't you see that I'm the castle twas arrogance that made me blind

I built this stone tower to overlook my life

these tall walls around my heart a secret place to hide

the insecurities are subtle not always easy to find

but a simple tweak to make it weak and charge it from behind.

Princess' don't need Castles, nor walls to try and climb

You know these walls hide insecurities, manipulations of the mind.

You can be my architect build upon my land

this castle that i hold as pride could tumble at your hand

make it new and make it well; this castle you don't need

once wrought with might and regal sight be sure that you take heed.

Princess' don't need Castles, so allow me to start new

I'd change it all whatever calls, I want to change for you.
