"Splintered Door"A Poem by Reena RainneThe splintered door ajar allowed, trails of smoke to linger proud...
And mingled with his crude stench too, as he slithered into my room...
My spirit implored, "Please desist," he lingered over and did insist...
This flesh fell faint embraced by fear, a crippled captive lay in drear...
Beneath the sheets his deed remained, that wee body now flawed and stained...
Pure, sweet virtue violated, lovely innocence degraded...
Left as such dirty and defiled, unworthy of love and exiled...
My haunted soul defies repose, endures regret amidst grave woes...
This cowardly guilt engulfs me, "I wonder if" still tortures thee...
Endless thoughts pursue to incline, "I should have fought against this crime...
Kept hostage by another's sin, my hidden hell chars deep within...
Those distant days do hinder me, I wake each day with tragedy...
To comprehend or justify? Forgive and forget? Damned if I!
His sin is seared deep in my core, unable to close that splintered door. © 2010 Reena RainneReviews
